Tips for Using Hydrocyclone Sand Removers and Understanding Their Structure

Understanding the Structure of Hydrocyclone Sand Removers:

A hydrocyclone sand remover consists of three main components fixed on a circular sedimentation tank: the agitator, sand scraper, and sand-water separator. These components are interconnected through pipelines, working together to achieve effective sand removal. Any malfunction or suboptimal performance of these components can significantly impact the sand removal efficiency.

  1. Agitator: The primary function of the agitator is to increase the rotational speed of wastewater entering the sedimentation tank. This enhances the centrifugal force acting on sand particles in the wastewater, causing them to rapidly settle on the tank’s walls. The sand particles then accumulate along the tank’s walls and converge at the conical bottom, where they are collected in a sand sump.
  2. Sand Scraper: The sand scraper utilizes pressurized clean water (tap water) to clean the sand particles around the sand sump located at the tank’s bottom. It forms a rotating layer of sand and water within the sand scraper, forcing low-pressure air from the central sand-water pipe to move upwards. This action continuously carries the sand-water mixture out of the sand sump and into the sand-water separator.
  3. Sand-Water Separator: The sand-water separator’s role is to allow sand particles to settle while allowing wastewater to flow out from the upper outlet. The sand particles are transported by a spiral conveyor to a transportation trolley or container for disposal.

Tips for Using Hydrocyclone Sand Removers:

  1. Ensure that the tap water pressure for the sand scraper is not less than 0.2 MPa.
  2. Regularly inspect the sand and water delivery pipelines for blockages or sand buildup, and clean them promptly.
  3. Periodically check the lubrication of the agitator’s rotating support and internal meshing gears. Add lubricating grease as needed.
  4. During routine inspections, pay attention to any unusual sounds or vibrations in the drive mechanisms and rotating parts of the agitator and sand-water separator. Check for loose bolts or fasteners.
  5. Every six months, lubricate the filling cavity on the spiral conveyor shaft of the sand-water separator and inspect the wear of the spiral conveyor and the abrasion-resistant rubber pads underneath. Replace them if significant wear is observed.
  6. Annually, inspect the lubricating oil in the gearboxes of the agitator and sand-water separator. Replace the oil as necessary based on its condition, and lubricate the motor bearings.

Proper maintenance and adherence to these tips will help ensure the efficient operation of hydrocyclone sand removers in water treatment processes, promoting the effective removal of sand and sediment from wastewater.
